Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at elementary schools in the Alexandria, VA area. This extensive placement will have you contributing your expertise at multiple school sites from now through June 11th, 2027, working a consistent 35-hour work week (seven hours per day).
You’ll play a pivotal role as part of a collaborative special education team, delivering speech-language intervention under the supervision of licensed professionals. Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences/Disorders or Speech Language
- Experience working with children in educational or clinical settings preferred
- Knowledge of current best practices in speech and language support
- Effective communication and empathetic interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, therapists, students, and families
- No VA SLPA license required (speech or communication disorders degree is mandatory)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Assist with implementing individualized intervention plans designed by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists
- Collect and document data on student progress and intervention outcomes
- Prepare instructional materials and support classroom integration of communication strategies
- Participate in team meetings and communicate effectively about student needs and progress
