Pediatric School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Toano, Virginia

Seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide essential support to elementary-aged students. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work 37.5 hours per week in a collaborative school setting, making a significant impact on a diverse caseload of approximately 80 students. The role may also include the chance to supervise a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), providing valuable mentorship and ensuring high-quality services.
The successful candidate will address a variety of speech, language, and communication needs, helping students reach their full academic potential. Flexibility is offered, as teletherapy (VOCO) may be considered in the near future, though the current preference is for onsite support.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Active SLP license, Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- Prior experience in pediatric or school-based settings
- Demonstrated expertise with elementary-aged students
- Strong knowledge of telehealth/teletherapy techniques is a plus
- Background in supervising or mentoring professionals such as SLPAs is advantageous
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of 80 students efficiently
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy to elementary students in individual and group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary school teams
- Monitor and adjust therapies based on student progress and needs
- Offer support and supervision to an SLPA, if assigned
- Participate in meetings and school-based activities
- Engage in professional development as needed
