Make a difference in the lives of elementary students by supporting communication skills development in a dynamic school setting. This contract opportunity, located near Midlothian, VA, is ideal for an SLPA passionate about pediatric speech therapy and eager to collaborate closely with an experienced supervising SLP. Starting August 17 and running through May 30, 2025, this position offers 37.5 hours per week, delivering direct therapy and assisting with assessments to K-5 students at Ettrick Elementary School. Travel between a small number of nearby locations may occasionally be required, with mileage paid.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication or related field (required)
- Valid state SLPA license or eligibility
- Experience in school-based settings or working with children (preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Competence in record keeping and documentation
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapy services to students as directed by a supervising SLP
- Assist with speech, language, and communication assessments
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with teachers and other campus staff to support IEP implementation
- Participate in team meetings and paid admin hours as part of contracted time
- Engage in training for the district’s IEP system and utilize dedicated therapy space for sessions
