Join an engaging educational setting near the Hyattsville, MD area, providing speech-language pathology services as a long-term substitute for a leading district. Opportunities are available across several elementary schools, each with specific caseload needs. Assignments may extend through the end of the academic year. This is a contract position, offering a dynamic and supportive environment for experienced SLPs or strong CFYs.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Hold an active Maryland SLP license (CCC-SLP preferred, but CFYs considered)
- Previous school-based experience, preferably with elementary or early childhood populations
- Experience with AAC devices is a plus, especially at Waverly Elementary
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Flexibility for onsite work at assigned school(s)
- Dedicated to fostering student growth and communication
Assignment Options:
- Waverly Elementary: Provide services 5 days/week, supporting general and regional programs. Immediate start through mid-February; AAC experience preferred.
- Veterans Elementary: 5 days/week, starting mid-November. Focus on early childhood caseload.
- Deep Run Elementary: 5 days/week, beginning mid-November. Caseload is primarily K–5, possible extension.
- Atholton/Phelps Luck Elementary: Split assignment across two schools, full-time through mid-February.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments and develop IEPs
- Deliver direct therapy to students, adapting interventions as needed
- Document progress and collaborate with educators and families
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to student support strategies
