We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 6–8. This position focuses on providing academic, behavioral, and executive functioning support to middle school students during the critical transition between elementary and high school.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and passionate about helping students achieve both academic and personal success in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide support through inclusion, resource, push-in, and pull-out service models
Co-teach and collaborate with general education teachers
Deliver targeted interventions in reading, writing, and math
Monitor student progress and maintain compliance documentation
Conduct case conferences and communicate regularly with families
Implement and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Help students develop organization, self-advocacy, and study skills
Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Valid Indiana Special Education licensure (Mild Intervention preferred)
Knowledge of IDEA regulations and IEP compliance requirements
Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
Experience working with middle school students preferred
Ability to support students with diverse academic and behavioral needs

Middle school special education teachers play a vital role in supporting students as they transition between grade levels and navigate multiple teachers and classroom settings throughout the school day. Our program utilizes a combination of push-in and pull-out instructional support to meet student needs while promoting inclusion and independence.
