Travel School Speech Pathology | Flint, Michigan
Located in Flint, MI, this onsite opportunity seeks up to two licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to provide essential services within K-12 school settings. Candidates may be asked to work in nearby areas including Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit. This role suits both experienced SLPs and Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) professionals who possess (or are eligible for) Michigan licensure, with Flint preferring CFYs who have an established supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct individual and group speech and language therapy addressing students' communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate speech and language development strategies into classroom instruction.
- Develop and implement annual goals and short-term objectives for students, actively participating in IEP and MET meetings.
- Maintain comprehensive records and progress reports in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Refer students for additional services as needed by working alongside instructional and ancillary staff.
- Provide in-service training and professional development to school staff regarding language development strategies.
- Conduct evaluations and prepare written reports to determine students’ eligibility for special education services.
- Support students using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, ensuring proper implementation at school and home.
- Manage requisition and maintenance of therapy equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Travel between assigned school sites within the district to deliver services onsite.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Michigan state licensure as an SLP is required; CFY candidates must hold a temporary license.
- Preference for candidates comfortable working onsite and knowledgeable about supporting urban children’s communication needs.
- Submission of university transcripts required prior to placement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to develop individualized therapy plans and contribute to student assessments.
