Located in Lapeer, MI, this contract position calls for onsite Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to serve students in K-12 settings with varying needs. Candidates should be licensed in Michigan; those currently in their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) must hold a temporary license. Experience in school-based SLP roles is preferred, with a focus on providing effective therapy to diverse student populations. Familiarity with challenges faced by urban children and appropriate resource application is a plus. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite and able to travel between schools within the district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct one-on-one and group speech and language therapy tailored to students’ communication needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate speech and language development into classroom activities.
  • Develop and implement annual goals and short-term objectives; actively participate in IEP and MET meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work closely with instructional and ancillary staff to identify students needing additional speech and language support.
  • Provide in-service training and professional development for school staff on speech and language strategies.
  • Conduct evaluations and write reports to determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Support students using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems with training and implementation guidance.
  • Manage speech therapy equipment, materials, and supplies efficiently.
  • Travel between assigned school buildings to deliver services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Michigan licensure as an SLP; CFYs must have temporary licensure.
  • Experience in school settings preferred; CFYs considered, especially if supervised.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse student populations, including urban communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • University transcripts required prior to district presentation.
