Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current Illinois SLP license (or eligibility to obtain)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred
- Previous school-based experience is valuable, though not required
- Exceptional communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate productively with teachers, support staff, and families
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ speech, language, and communication abilities using standardized tools and clinical observation
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and goals
- Provide direct therapy sessions—individually or in small groups
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and other team members to support academic and social success
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to multidisciplinary discussions, and advocate for student needs
- Maintain accurate and timely reports, progress notes, and documentation
- Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices
