School Speech Language Pathologist - Flint, Michigan
An opportunity is available for skilled Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to provide impactful onsite therapy services within K-12 school settings across Flint, Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit, MI. This contract role focuses on addressing the unique communication needs of students in diverse urban environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group speech and language therapy to eligible students, fostering improvements in communication skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to integrate language development strategies into daily classroom routines.
- Develop and implement annual goals and measurable objectives for students on caseloads; actively engage in IEP and MET meetings.
- Maintain thorough documentation including progress reports and records to meet district, state, and federal compliance standards.
- Partner with instructional staff to identify and refer students requiring additional speech and language support.
- Provide professional development and in-service training to school personnel on best practices in speech and language interventions.
- Conduct evaluations and write comprehensive reports assessing speech, language, voice, or oral motor impairments to establish eligibility for special education.
- Facilitate training for students using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to ensure effective implementation at school and home.
- Manage and organize therapy equipment, materials, and supplies to support service delivery.
- Travel between assigned schools within the district as necessary.
Qualifications/Preferences:
- Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of Michigan; Current temporary licenses accepted for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates.
- CFYs considered, with preference for candidates having an established supervisor, especially for Flint assignments.
- Understanding of challenges faced by urban children and suitable resource recommendations are preferred.
- Comfortable working onsite full-time (35 hours per week).
This role requires submission of university transcripts prior to district presentation. Onsite services and travel within assigned districts are expected.
