Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Chicago, IL
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting early learners in PreK programs across two vibrant school communities near Chicago, IL. This role provides full-time coverage during a maternity leave from early to mid-October through March, delivering essential speech-language services to children ages 3-5.
You’ll split your time between two collaborative PreK environments, each with four classrooms, working as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that values play-based, child-centered approaches. Your ability to connect with young children and collaborate in team-based, transdisciplinary evaluations will be pivotal to student success. While some Spanish language ability would be especially helpful in communicating with students and families, it’s not required—what matters most is your enthusiasm and commitment to supporting these young learners.
What will set you up for success in this role:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license/certification in Illinois (SLP-CCC or SLP-CFY candidates welcome)
- Prior experience or strong interest in school settings, especially PreK (3-5 years)
- Familiarity with or eagerness to learn Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment methods highly valued
- Ability to collaborate flexibly across two school sites and with diverse teams
- Spanish language skills are a plus, but not mandatory
- Comfort providing services to a multi-classroom program
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative speech-language therapy to PreK-aged students
- Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and play-based assessment processes
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and families to maximize student outcomes
- Contribute to IEP development and ongoing progress monitoring
