Speech Therapist in Chicago, IL
Make an impact supporting students across early childhood through 8th grade as a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist with this rewarding, school-based contract opportunity. Located in the Chicago suburban area, this position covers the upcoming academic year (approximately August 17th to May 21st), providing vital speech-language services on-site within a supportive educational community.
You’ll collaborate closely with another SLP to serve a caseload of 70 students, helping ensure each individual receives the quality care and attention they need to reach their communication goals. With manageable division of students and a full-time, consistent schedule of 33.75 hours per week, you’ll have the chance to build meaningful relationships and see tangible progress throughout the school year.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License)
- Speech Language Pathologist license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Prior experience in school settings highly valued
- Ability to provide on-site support (virtual/remote work is not available)
- ISBE number required for application process
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students EC-8th grade
- Develop individualized plans and document progress
- Work collaboratively with educators, families, and the SLP team
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, union rules, and school policies
