Bring your expertise in speech-language pathology to a dynamic middle school setting for an engaging contract opportunity this fall. This position is tailored for an SLP with CCC credentials, ready to support students’ communication development and make a substantial impact during the academic semester. Working 35 hours a week from August 24th to December 22nd, you’ll collaborate closely with educators, students, and families in a vibrant community near Bridgeport, CT.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Connecticut state licensure (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Previous experience with middle school populations preferred
- Proficiency in administering formal communication assessments and developing individualized plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and interpret formal assessments to determine eligibility for special education services
- Observe students in classroom settings to evaluate the impact of communication on academic and social growth
- Develop and implement measurable, customized long- and short-term goals for each student
- Provide targeted instruction to enhance speech sound production, language skills, and social pragmatics
- Train students in the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices for effective expression
- Work within general education classrooms to support students as they practice vital communication skills
- Engage families with resources and strategies to reinforce progress at home
- Document therapy sessions for Medicaid billing and ensure compliance with district requirements
