Sign Language Interpreter – West Palm Beach, FL

Position: Sign Language Interpreter
Location: West Palm Beach, Florida
Schedule: Full-Time
Contract Dates: August 10, 2026 – May 27, 2027

Position Overview

We are seeking qualified Sign Language Interpreters to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in school-based settings throughout Palm Beach County. Interpreters will provide communication access during classroom instruction and school activities while working at a designated school site.


Candidates will be assigned to one school site.

Responsibilities
Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and ASL into spoken language.
Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
Support student access to classroom instruction, educational activities, and school events.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethical guidelines.
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
Participate in meetings and training as required by the district.

Qualifications
Minimum Level 3 or higher score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) required.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Previous educational or school-based interpreting experience preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with students and educational teams.

Additional Requirements
Successful completion of district fingerprinting and background screening is required.
Fingerprinting requirements apply to both on-site and virtual candidates.
Must meet all district and state compliance requirements prior to the start of the assignment.
