Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility Speech Pathologist - Dumfries, VA
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year in an elementary school setting located in Dumfries, VA. This contract role supports students through individualized speech and language assessments, therapy, and consultation services focused on students with special education needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultative services to staff regarding diagnosis and remediation of speech and language challenges.
- Conduct screenings and comprehensive evaluations addressing speech, language, articulation, and auditory development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to interpret assessment data and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning.
- Maintain clear and ongoing communication with school staff, families, and healthcare partners to monitor student progress.
- Deliver direct therapy to students with speech and language impairments, facilitating communication skills for academic and social success.
- Support classroom and community language program development for both regular and special education staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Speech Language Pathologist license.
- Experience or training in speech and language assessment, evaluation, and consultation.
- Commitment to supporting students with special education needs and their families.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community partners.
- Knowledgeable in special education processes, disability categories, and early learning or atypical impairments.
- Strong organizational skills to manage all phases of special education identification.
- Effective communication abilities including active listening and appropriate use of communication channels.
- Preferred prior school experience working with elementary students.
