Speech Pathology Assistant - Schertz, TX
Step into a dynamic school-based setting as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) providing impactful services to middle and high school students. This contract position offers an engaging opportunity to work across two campuses with diverse caseloads, supporting student communication development within a collaborative special education team.
Your primary locations will be a high school (serving approximately 70 students, grades 9–12) and a middle school (working with about 40 students, grades 6–9). While bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus, monolingual candidates are welcome—bilingual students will be seen by other providers. Therapy minutes remain manageable, allowing focused, every-other-week interventions and the ability to build meaningful student relationships.
Qualifications:
- Active Texas SLPA license required
- Previous experience in school settings preferred
- Comfortable working with both middle and high school students
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred, but not mandatory
- Ability to travel between two school sites (within reasonable proximity)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language therapy to assigned students, primarily grades 6–12
- Implement treatment plans under the direction of a supervising SLP
- Accurately record progress and prepare relevant documentation
- Coordinate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary staff
- Participate in ongoing professional development and required meetings
- Complete district-specific credentialing forms following an offer
This assignment begins as soon as possible and runs through the end of May, offering a full-time, 40-hour weekly schedule on site. Commitment to excellence, adaptability, and a student-centered approach are essential for success.
