Blazer Jobs is actively seeking passionate and qualified Exceptional Student Education (Special Education) Teachers to support students with diverse learning needs across district schools. Special Education Teachers provide individualized instruction, ensure compliance with IEPs, and collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to promote inclusive, student‑centered learning environments.
Job Responsibilities
Provide specialized instruction aligned with Connecticut academic standards
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Assess student progress and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with IDEA and district guidelines
Support inclusive practices and positive behavioral interventions
Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
Qualifications & Requirements (State of Connecticut)
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
Valid or eligible Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Special Education teaching certification
Out‑of‑state candidates must be eligible for Connecticut licensure through reciprocity
State & District Compliance
Successful completion of Connecticut criminal background check and fingerprinting
Ability to meet all Hartford Public Schools employment requirements
Current TB screening (or willingness to obtain)
Skills & Experience
Strong understanding of special education laws and IDEA compliance
Experience writing and implementing IEPs
Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student advocacy
