Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Responsibilities
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will provide speech and language services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA will work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, families, and related service providers to support students' communication and educational goals.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing speech and language therapy services to students under appropriate supervision
- Supporting students with articulation, language, fluency, and communication needs
- Implementing treatment activities and therapy plans developed by the supervising SLP
- Collecting and documenting student data and progress
- Collaborating with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers
- Supporting students in individual and group therapy settings
- Assisting with student communication goals and educational participation
- Maintaining accurate therapy documentation
SLPA Qualifications
- Active Georgia Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) credential/license or eligibility to obtain one
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, as required by Georgia regulations
- Experience working with children or in a school-based setting preferred
- Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Passion for supporting students and improving communication outcomes
