Virtual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC) - Maternity Leave Coverage - Michigan
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an ASHA-accredited program
• Minimum of 2+ years of school-based experience practicing within the last 5 years
• Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
• Active Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License (Educational Limited or Full) issued by Michigan LARA
• Demonstrated ability to step into an established caseload seamlessly and maintain IEP compliance with minimal onboarding time
• Familiarity with Michigan special education criteria (MARSE), Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) guidelines, and digital IEP systems (e.g., Illuminate, TieNet)
• Strong clinical diagnostic, case management, and remote communication skills
• Comfortable navigating telepractice platforms, digital assessments (Q-interactive/Q-global), and remote conferencing software
Key Responsibilities
Caseload Continuity & Direct Therapy
• Provide seamless continuity of care for an established school caseload during a designated leave of absence
• Deliver direct virtual individual and small-group therapy sessions aligned with existing IEP goals and service minute mandates
• Implement and adapt evidence-based intervention plans supporting functional communication, articulation, language, fluency, and AAC use
• Track session attendance, log clinical data continuously, and monitor objective progress toward annual goals
MET & IEP Collaboration
• Participate actively in virtual MET (Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team) and IEP annual review meetings scheduled during the leave window
• Partner closely with special education teachers, general education staff, related service providers, and parents to maintain ongoing student support
• Conduct virtual evaluations or complete triennial re-evaluations as needed to prevent caseload compliance lapses
Documentation & Transition Oversight
• Maintain accurate, compliant documentation of service logs, daily session notes, and quarterly IEP progress reports
• Adhere strictly to Michigan 30-school-day evaluation deadlines, district policies, and federal IDEA mandates
• Prepare thorough hand-off documentation and caseload status reports to ensure a smooth transition upon the permanent clinician's return
Technology & Telepractice Delivery
• Utilize interactive telepractice tools, digital manipulatives, and engaging online stimuli to conduct dynamic virtual sessions
• Coordinate with onsite school e-helpers/facilitators to maintain hardware setup, camera views, and session flow
• Troubleshoot basic digital issues and guide students in navigating remote learning tools
