School Speech Language Pathologist - Spruce Pine, North Carolina
Step into a meaningful contract role providing speech therapy services to students across three school sites in the Burnsville, NC vicinity. This opportunity starts August 6, 2026, and runs through June 2, 2027, serving primarily K-5 students, with some pre-K and up to 12th grade involvement. You’ll work with a caseload of approximately 40-50 students, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours each week, supporting children’s communication needs and collaborating with teams at sites including public elementary and middle schools, Head Start, and a private school student.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Holds a current North Carolina SLP license and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Has experience providing speech-language services in schools, primarily to K-5 populations
- Cleared DHHS Pre-K background check (or willing to obtain)
- Confident handling a caseload of 40-50 students at multiple sites
- Comfortable supporting and overseeing an SLPA in collaboration with school staff
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage paperwork and IEP meetings
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech therapy across a diverse student population
- Collaborate with teams, including Head Start and private school partners
- Maintain thorough documentation in ECATS
- Complete necessary IEP paperwork (present levels, annual goals, service times)
- Serve as a case manager for students whose only IEP category is Speech Impaired, including organizing and facilitating IEP meetings
