Position Overview
We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join a diverse school community in Providence, RI, for the 2026–2027 school year. This role offers the opportunity to support students across PK–12, with specialized assignment options available in Early Childhood/Preschool or Bilingual settings.
The district serves a highly diverse student population, with approximately 55% of students coming from multilingual homes. Caseloads are generally targeted around 60 students, although current staffing shortages may result in fluid caseloads that temporarily exceed this target depending on school assignment.
Assignment Options
Standard PK–12: Mixed student population and grade levels.
Early Childhood/Preschool: Lower, more localized caseloads focused on younger learners.
Bilingual: Opportunities to support students in multilingual learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct speech and language therapy to students.
Conduct speech-language assessments and evaluations.
Set up, manage, and support AAC and assistive technology devices.
Complete required documentation, progress notes, and other paperwork.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement effective learning strategies.
Consult with and advise parents/guardians regarding student communication needs and progress.
Participate as an active member of multidisciplinary school teams.
Support students' communication and academic participation across educational settings.
Caseload
Target caseload: Approximately 60 students.
Caseloads may fluctuate and temporarily exceed the target due to current staffing shortages.
Assignment and caseload will vary based on school placement and selected specialization.
Qualifications
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) PK–12 Speech-Language Pathologist Certification.
