Pediatric School Speech Language Pathologist - Shawnee, KS
Step into a pivotal role supporting elementary students as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract opportunity starts in August and offers the chance to make an important impact for two specialized programs—serving students with cognitive disabilities as well as those impacted by autism. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team of educators, specialists, and supportive staff, helping young learners achieve critical communication milestones in a positive, engaging environment.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Current or pending state licensure as an SLP
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- Previous experience with pediatric or school-based caseloads preferred
- Strong understanding of working with students with cognitive disabilities and autism
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Compassion, patience, and a drive to foster growth and independence in children
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders to help students succeed academically and socially
- Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to individual student strengths and needs
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff within specialized cognitive and autism-focused programs
- Monitor progress and adjust therapy approaches as needed
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP and team meetings as required
- Provide support, strategies, and education to classroom teachers and families
