Make a meaningful impact supporting students ages 6-21 with unique communication needs in a contract position starting March 9th. You’ll work with a caseload of 22 students, most of whom are non-verbal and require targeted interventions using AAC devices, eye gaze, tactile/picture systems, and other low tech communication tools. The focus is on integrating functional speech and language goals into students’ routines to build independence and facilitate daily communication. Services delivered are a blend of direct, consultative, and group support, tailored to individuals with visual, cognitive, medical, and orthopedic needs.
This opportunity runs tentatively through June 11th (dependent on snow days) with an option to extend through the ESY summer program, July 5th-August 5th (Monday-Thursday, 8:00-2:15).
Qualifications:
- Active Speech-Language Pathology license (CCC required for school setting)
- School-based SLP experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of communication systems including AAC, eye gaze, tactile, and low-tech alternatives
- Prior experience supporting students with significant or multiple disabilities a plus
- Comfort delivering direct, consultative, and group therapies
- Ability to design and implement functional, independence-focused IEP goals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess, develop, and deliver specialized speech and language services to a diverse student caseload
- Implement and troubleshoot AAC/communication systems daily
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate communication strategies across environments
- Maintain thorough progress documentation and contribute to IEP development
- Support family and staff training for communication systems as needed
