Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Valid SLP license or proof of completed application with pending status
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred; CFYs may be considered (Flint location values candidates with an established supervisor)
- Experience in K-12 school settings strongly desired
- Comfortable working exclusively onsite and traveling between assigned school buildings
- Official university transcripts required before submission for district approval
- Strong understanding of issues affecting urban youth and their communities
- Proficiency in conducting assessments and writing reports for eligibility determination
- Must be able to initiate effective communication with teachers, parents, and ancillary staff
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one and group speech/language therapy to eligible K-12 students
- Develop annual IEP goals and participate actively in plan meetings
- Maintain thorough records and comply with all regulatory requirements
- Train and support school staff regarding language development strategies and best practices
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for suspected language or speech impairments
- Support students using AAC systems and engage families in the process
- Manage therapy materials and equipment efficiently
- Adapt to varying schedules and travel between school sites as necessary
