School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Elizabeth, New Jersey
A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC) to provide coverage for a medical leave beginning October 1, 2026, with services needed through at least November 20, 2026—potentially extending to the end of the semester. This position supports students across PreK-12, with a caseload of approximately 40 individuals, including some who are nonverbal. The opening offers a chance to shadow the current SLP before their leave, ensuring a smooth transition.
Key Qualifications:
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- Valid New Jersey Department of Education Certification (NJDOE Cert)
- Prior experience in school-based settings with diverse grade levels (PreK-12)
- Knowledge and familiarity with low-tech AAC devices strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively with nonverbal students
- In-person only; telepractice/VOCO services are not offered for this assignment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language therapy interventions for students PreK-12
- Conduct evaluations and reassessments as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with educational teams
- Document student progress and maintain compliance with state and district regulations
- Adapt therapy strategies to support students who use AAC devices
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators
This contract assignment allows for onboarding prior to the start date to facilitate shadowing of the current SLP, setting you up for success with your caseload. The support you provide will make a significant impact in students’ communication skills and educational outcomes.
