School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Elizabeth, New Jersey
Step into a key role supporting students by providing essential speech and language services as an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC) in a school-based setting. This contract opportunity involves covering a medical leave with a start date of October 1, 2026, and an anticipated end date of November 20, 2026 (with the possibility of extending until the end of the semester). This is a fully onsite position located near Elizabeth, NJ, ideal for someone seeking meaningful, hands-on collaboration with students and faculty.
You’ll have the chance to work with a diverse PreK-12 caseload of approximately 40 students, some of whom are nonverbal or utilize low-tech AAC devices. Early onboarding and shadowing of the outgoing SLP before their leave ensures a smooth transition, setting you up for success.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- NJDOE Speech-Language Specialist Certification required
- Background in school settings, with experience across PreK to 12th grade preferred
- Familiarity and experience with low-tech AAC devices strongly valued
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for working with students of varying needs and abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech and language therapy to students on your caseload
- Work with nonverbal students and support functional communication
- Coordinate with teachers, staff, and families for optimal student outcomes
- Document progress and maintain compliance with state and district requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team decisions
