School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Edison, New Jersey
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students from PreK through 12th grade in a vibrant educational setting near Edison, NJ. This position entails covering a medical leave beginning October 1, 2026, with an expected end date of November 20, 2026, and the possibility to extend through the end of the semester. You’ll manage a caseload of approximately 40 students, including some who are nonverbal, and play a vital role in their communication development.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide direct support using your expertise with school-based speech-language pathology. Experience with low-tech AAC devices is highly valued as you help diverse learners achieve their communication goals. To ensure a smooth transition, there may be an opportunity to start earlier so you can shadow the outgoing SLP and familiarize yourself with current cases.
Qualifications:
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Valid NJDOE certification
- School-based SLP experience
- Comfortable working with students PreK-12th grade, including nonverbal students
- Familiarity with low-tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices
- Strong ability to handle an in-person, school environment; virtual placements are not available
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage evaluations, direct therapy sessions, and parent/staff consultations for a caseload of 40 students
- Collaborate with educational teams to implement effective communication strategies
- Maintain documentation and contribute to IEP processes
- Support a varied caseload, adapting interventions for nonverbal students
