Step into a vital role supporting students’ growth and success as a contract Speech-Language Pathologist in a welcoming school-based setting. This position is focused on enhancing students’ communication abilities and removing barriers to learning by providing specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language screenings, evaluations, and reevaluations for referred students.
- Assess and address areas of speech, language, voice, fluency, articulation, pragmatic language, and communication.
- Develop, implement, and regularly monitor individualized therapy plans and IEP goals tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Deliver direct as well as consultative speech-language therapy services to students in accordance with their educational plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including therapy notes, progress updates, Medicaid documentation, and evaluation reports.
- Engage actively in multidisciplinary team, Case Conference Committee (CCC), and IEP meetings.
- Collaborate closely with educators, administrators, parents, and related service staff to promote strong communication outcomes for students.
- Recommend strategies, accommodations, and assistive technologies to maximize student participation and progress in educational environments.
- Adjust interventions and supports based on ongoing student monitoring and data.
- Provide guidance, training, and consultation to staff and families regarding communication development and intervention.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, FERPA, Indiana Article 7, Medicaid, and district policies.
- Travel to assigned school buildings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited institution.
- Valid Indiana Speech-Language Pathology license.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA—preferred or as required by the district.
- In-depth understanding of speech/language development, disorders, and intervention best practices.
- Familiarity with IDEA, Indiana Article 7, MTSS/RTI, and special education guidelines.
- Excellent communication, assessment, collaboration, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to serve students from preschool to high school; school-based experience is an advantage.
