School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - Bessemer, Alabama
Make a meaningful impact supporting students by providing speech-language services throughout the Birmingham, Alabama area for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated professional ready to work collaboratively within a school setting from August 7 through June 10.
Ideal candidates are adaptable and passionate about serving students with diverse needs. Assignments will be made based on building needs and specific student populations, allowing you to apply your expertise in multiple settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator Certification required
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
- Deep understanding of federal and state regulations relating to special education and services for students with disabilities
- Familiarity with pediatric and adolescent cognitive and physical development, as well as diagnostic instruments for assessment
- Ability to compile and analyze data, and interpret pertinent laws, policies, and regulations
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Preferred: ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality speech-language therapy to students as assigned
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and interpret diagnostic data
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address student needs
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with policy
- Participate in eligibility, planning, and progress monitoring meetings
