A healthcare facility is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist for a full-time contract position. This role provides an excellent opportunity to deliver specialized care in a supportive team environment, working with adult and geriatric patients in an acute care setting.

Location: Amherst, MA

Schedule/Hours:

  • 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Alternating weekend coverage (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays)
  • No rotating shifts, call required

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia treatment plans
  • Modify diet orders using international dysphagia diet guidelines and thickening agents
  • Provide thorough documentation including assessments, treatment notes, discharge summaries, and plan of care updates
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory and interpretation services
  • Ensure patient safety by recognizing signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
  • Maintain compliance with medication and documentation systems (e.g., Pyxis, Meditech Expanse)
  • Take leadership roles when required, including charge responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Valid BLS, CCC-SLP, MBSImP, and Massachusetts State license required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care and community hospital environments
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Experience managing a patient ratio around 1:15
  • Skilled in treatment of stroke and infectious respiratory diseases
  • Teaching hospital experience is a plus
