Speech Pathology | Sterling Heights, Michigan
Step into a dynamic role providing speech-language pathology services within a hospital setting. Work under the general supervision of the therapy manager and play a key part in supporting adults with communication and swallowing challenges. The position is offered as a 13-week assignment, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
Schedule:
- Wednesday through Saturday
- 10-hour shifts, 7:45am – 6:15pm (start time negotiable)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology (master’s preferred)
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Prior experience in inpatient rehab, adult acute care, and adult assessments (including bedside swallow or BIM assessments) highly preferred
- Skilled in documentation and record-keeping
- Demonstrated self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Experience with Cerner and Epic electronic medical records systems is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment programs for adult patients, focusing on communication and swallowing disorders
- Assess, diagnose, and develop care plans for individuals with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing deficits
- Provide bedside swallowing evaluations and BIM assessments as required
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
- Accurately document patient evaluation, treatment, and progress using EMR systems
- Educate patients and family members, offering guidance to maximize recovery
