Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Independence, MO
An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with inpatient experience, specializing in hospital-based therapy. This contract position involves working across two inpatient departments located in the vibrant Independence, MO area. Candidates must hold their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and possess advanced skills in conducting Video Swallow evaluations.
Location:
This role will be split between two hospital inpatient units: one with 71 beds and the other with 88 beds. Both facilities utilize the Meditech documentation system and serve a broad patient population requiring expert speech therapy services. Independence, MO offers a dynamic community where urban amenities meet small-town charm, with numerous parks, recreational activities, and easy access to major highways and cultural attractions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive inpatient speech-language pathology evaluations and therapy
- Perform Video Swallow studies to assess and manage dysphagia
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech
- Float between two hospital locations as needed, ensuring continuity of care
- Adhere to the unit’s dress code by wearing scrubs (color not specified)
Qualifications:
- Valid SLP licensure with inpatient hospital experience
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- Proficiency in Video Swallow procedures
- Ability to work flexible weekday hours, typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, depending on caseload
- Willingness and ability to travel between hospital sites
