Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) in Scarborough, ME

This contract position is based in-person at a day treatment program, engaging with a diverse caseload of approximately 20 students exhibiting a range of communication abilities. Your expertise, especially in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), will play a crucial role in fostering each student's growth and confidence.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
- Previous experience in an educational or school-based setting
- Proven proficiency supporting students using AAC devices and strategies
- Comfort working with high school-aged learners, including those with complex needs
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with licensed SLPs, teachers, and families
- Excellent organizational abilities and adaptability in a dynamic, therapeutic environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed SLP, focusing on functional communication and individualized student goals
- Utilize AAC devices and customize communication supports for students with varying proficiency levels
- Track progress, collect data, and maintain accurate records to inform instructional strategies and goal adjustments
- Communicate regularly with the supervising SLP and multidisciplinary team
- Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs, contributing valuable observations and recommendations
