Step into an exciting opportunity supporting students as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in vibrant Prince William County! This contract position is ideal for professionals passionate about helping children develop their communication skills in school settings across Dale City, Dumfries, and Woodbridge. Working 35 hours per week (7 hours per day), you’ll engage with students and staff for the duration of the school year, starting August 24th, 2026, and wrapping up June 12th, 2027.
What You Bring:
- A degree in Communications or Speech Language, or in Speech or Communication Disorders
- Experience or interest in serving K-12 student populations as an SLPA in schools
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills for collaborative work with educators and support staff
- Dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all learners
- Adaptability and creativity when supporting diverse needs across multiple educational sites
- Current SLPA licensure is not required for Virginia
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out speech-language therapy activities and interventions under the guidance of a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist
- Support students’ progress with direct services individually or in small groups
- Document student performance and communicate observations to the supervising SLP and school personnel
- Contribute to IEP documentation and meetings as appropriate
- Foster a communicative, positive atmosphere in classrooms and resource areas
- Assist in preparing educational materials and scheduling therapy sessions
