Position Details
Job Title: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
Location: Chesterfield, VA
Assignment Dates: August 2026 – June 2027
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
School Assignment: 1–2 school buildings
Student Population: Likely K-8 students
Caseload: To be determined by district needs
Job Responsibilities
As a School-Based SLPA, you will support the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist by providing direct services and assisting with therapy implementation, including:
Deliver direct speech and language therapy services to students under SLP supervision
Assist with speech and language screenings and assessments
Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP
Support students with articulation, language, fluency, voice, and communication goals
Collect data and monitor student progress
Maintain accurate therapy documentation and records
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and educational staff to support student success
Participate in team meetings and contribute to student-centered services
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field required
Virginia does not require a separate SLPA license for qualified candidates
Previous experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting K-8 students
Knowledge of special education and school-based therapy services
Familiarity with IEPs and educational team collaboration
Ability to manage caseload responsibilities across multiple school sites
