Speech Therapist in Herkimer, NY
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist opportunity is available at a K-12 school located in Herkimer, NY. This contract position runs through the end of the school year with potential for renewal for the next school year. The role focuses on providing speech and language services primarily to middle and high school students, many of whom have behavioral needs. The caseload includes mostly verbal students with limited use of AAC devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive speech-language pathology services to a diverse caseload of K–12 students
- Address behavioral needs through individualized intervention plans
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to optimize student communication outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with state and district standards
- Participate in virtual interviews and promptly respond to employment offer inquiries
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid New York State licensure as an SLP
- New York State Teaching Certification in Speech (TSSLD) required
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Experience working with school-aged children, particularly middle and high school populations
- Ability to support students with behavioral challenges and limited AAC device usage
