A school-based Speech Language Pathologist helps students develop the communication tools they need to succeed in school, build confidence, and engage with their peers and teachers. This role supports students across a variety of communication needs while working as part of a collaborative educational team.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely related field.
- Active Virginia Speech Language Pathologist license or Virginia School Speech Language Pathologist license, as required by the assignment.
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred.
- Clinical Fellows may be considered when appropriate supervision is available.
- School-based experience preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide speech and language therapy services to students based on IEP goals.
- Conduct evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication needs.
- Develop treatment plans, write IEP goals, and complete required documentation.
- Work with teachers, families, and related service providers to support student progress.
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide insight on student communication development.
