Virtual School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist - North Carolina
Qualifications • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program • Active North Carolina SLP license issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists (NCBOESLPA) • Active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Educator License with an SLP endorsement (or eligibility) • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred • Minimum of 2+ years of experience (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred) • Experience with NC IEP procedures, evaluations, and virtual service delivery is a plus • Strong clinical communication, organization, and time-management skills • Comfortable using teletherapy platforms, digital assessments, and intervention tools
Key Responsibilities Assessment & Intervention • Conduct comprehensive virtual speech and language assessments to evaluate articulation, language, fluency, and pragmatic communication needs • Design and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) • Deliver direct telepractice services focused on educational communication goals and track objective progress • Use data-driven metrics to refine therapy targets and adjust clinical intervention strategies
Collaboration & Support • Partner closely with general and special education teachers, parents, related service providers, and school leadership • Provide practical classroom accommodation strategies, carryover techniques, and consultative support • Participate actively in virtual IEP meetings, multidisciplinary evaluation teams, and 504 reviews
Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of direct service logs, progress notes, and IEP goal updates • Ensure all evaluations and therapeutic services strictly comply with NCDPI policies, local education agency (LEA) guidelines, and IDEA mandates • Complete comprehensive evaluation summaries, eligibility determination forms, and state-mandated compliance records
Technology & Teletherapy Tools • Utilize interactive virtual therapy platforms, digital assessment materials, and engaging online stimuli • Adapt instructional resources and therapy activities for an effective remote learning environment • Guide onsite school facilitators and families with platform setup and basic tech troubleshooting
Advocacy & Education • Guide students in developing self-advocacy skills, functional communication, and AAC implementation where appropriate • Provide educational resources and consultation to school teams and families regarding pediatric speech and language development
