School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Schenectady, New York
Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting elementary students as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC). This role is conveniently located in the Schenectady, NY area and offers the chance to make a direct impact on children’s communication, language, and social skills from kindergarten through fifth grade.
The assignment is set to start as soon as possible and will extend through the end of June. You’ll work Monday through Friday during the school day, from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm. Your daily schedule will include approximately nine sessions, a lunch break, and two planning periods, with caseloads determined by session schedules.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist licensure for New York State
- Experience working with elementary-aged children (K–5) strongly preferred
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills with young learners
- Ability to collaborate closely with educators, families, and support staff
- Organizational skills to effectively manage scheduling and documentation
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech and language therapy to students in individual and small-group sessions
- Conduct assessments and interpret data to inform IEP development and student goals
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress, and communication with stakeholders
- Partner with teachers and families to share strategies and facilitate student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and school-based teams as needed
- Utilize planning periods effectively for preparing materials and documentation
