School-Based SLP | Detroit, Michigan
Step into an exciting full-time opportunity as a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting middle school students for the remainder of the academic year. This contract position offers the chance to make an immediate impact in a dynamic educational environment near Detroit, MI. With a friendly, collaborative team—including another SLP available to assist with testing—you’ll help serve a caseload of 57 students, including those in three Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classrooms. If you have AAC experience, your expertise will be especially valued.
Schedule runs Monday through Friday, from 8:15 AM to 3:09 PM, allowing for a consistent routine and early afternoons. Enjoy a positive, supportive atmosphere as you work with dedicated professionals to meet student speech and language needs through the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Current SLP license in Michigan (or ability to obtain)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Previous experience within school settings highly valued
- Comfortable working with middle school age students
- Familiarity with AAC devices and strategies is a strong advantage
- Experience supporting ASD populations is an asset
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and provide evidence-based treatment for speech, language, and communication disorders among students
- Collaborate with educators, families, and on-site SLP regarding interventions and testing
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and document progress thoroughly
- Support a varied caseload, including students in ASD classrooms utilizing AAC
- Participate in team and parent meetings as needed
