You’ll gain invaluable experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team while supporting students aged 3–21. Many of your students have visual, cognitive, medical, or orthopedic needs, and most are non-verbal. Your expertise will focus on establishing and implementing AAC devices and diverse communication systems to foster independence and functional communication in both direct and group settings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language therapy to a caseload of 25–40 students (ages 3–21)
- Adapt and develop communication systems (AAC, eye gaze, tactile, low-tech) based on individual student needs
- Deliver direct, consultative, and group therapy services
- Work collaboratively with teachers, OTs, PTs, instructional assistants, and families
- Target functional, student-centered goals that promote independence
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania SLP license or eligibility
- ASHA certification (CCC) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- Experience with AAC devices and diverse communication strategies
- Passion for working with students with complex communication needs
