Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or equivalent
- Valid licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in Virginia, or eligible for licensure
- Previous experience in a school environment or working with children preferred
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow therapy plans and instructional guidance from supervising SLPs
- Passion for empowering students with communication challenges
Responsibilities:
- Assist with carrying out speech and language therapy sessions under the direction of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist
- Implement individualized education program (IEP) goals and therapy activities as assigned
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Support generalization of therapy strategies into the classroom and daily school routines
- Provide instructional and clerical support, including preparation of therapy materials
- Participate in school team meetings when appropriate and communicate effectively with staff and families
