Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Joliet, IL

This contract opportunity is located near Joliet, IL, and focuses on working directly with one student on a single school campus, ensuring minimized travel and focused intervention. The role is ideal for a Speech-Language Pathologist who is experienced with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and is looking for a part-time commitment. You’ll work closely with the educational team and the student’s family to support communication goals and help unlock new pathways to learning and expression.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure or eligibility as a Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP or Clinical Fellow, CFY)
- Comfortable and knowledgeable working with students on the autism spectrum, especially non-verbal clients
- Experience or strong interest in AAC devices and communication strategies
- Collaborative, communicative, and dedicated to individualized education planning
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individual speech-language therapy for a second-grade student, 2 hours weekly throughout the second semester (January through the end of the school year)
- Assess, develop, and implement personalized goals focusing on language development and effective communication via AAC
- Document progress and make adjustments to therapy as needed in consultation with the educational team and family
- Support and educate classroom staff and family about AAC integration in daily activities
