School Speech Therapist - Ithaca, New York
A contract Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is needed ASAP for an on-site role in Ithaca, NY, supporting students within a school setting. This position requires candidates holding both a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology and a valid New York State teaching certification in SLP.
Responsibilities include providing specialized speech and language services to a small caseload of high school and potentially middle school students. The current caseload comprises two 9th-grade students with highly complex communication needs:
- First student uses AAC, is non-speaking, and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, supported by a 1:1 paraeducator.
- Second student is non-verbal with autism and also supported by a 1:1 paraeducator.
Given the complexity of these cases, demonstrated experience working with students facing similar challenges in a school environment is mandatory.
Key Qualifications:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology
- New York State SLP teaching certification
- Proven school-based experience with complex neurological and developmental communication disorders
- Skilled in AAC strategies and interventions for non-verbal students
- Ability to collaborate closely with paraeducators and school staff
