School SLP Job Opening (Speech Language Pathologist) - New Orleans, LA
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available in New Orleans, LA for the upcoming school year. Blazer Jobs is partnering with local school districts to hire a dedicated and student-focused SLP who is passionate about helping students improve communication skills and access their education.
About the Role:
This school-based SLP role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech and language disorders in a K-12 setting. The SLP will collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support individualized student goals and ensure students receive the services they need to succeed both academically and socially.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Active Louisiana Speech-Language Pathology license (or eligibility)
- Completion of 400 clinical hours and supervised clinical fellowship
- Passing score on the Praxis exam or ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Louisiana Department of Education certification or eligibility for school-based services
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred
- Ability to pass background check and fingerprinting
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Job Duties:
- Conduct speech and language evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct therapy services to students
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Address articulation, fluency, language, and social communication needs
