Job Description
Blazer Jobs is seeking a certified Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide interpretive services for students receiving speech and language services within a school district setting. The Speech-Language Interpreter works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students in accessing communication and instructional services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Interpret spoken language between students and Speech-Language Pathologists during therapy sessions, evaluations, and classroom activities
- Support students with speech, language, and communication needs to ensure equal access to instruction
- Assist in implementing speech and language therapy activities as directed by the supervising SLP
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided according to district and state guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Support student communication in academic and social settings as outlined in the IEP
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements (FERPA and HIPAA where applicable)
- Follow school district policies and professional ethical standards
Requirements
- Active Speech-Language Interpreter certification (state‑approved or nationally recognized)
- Eligible to work in Florida school districts
- Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEPs, and special education procedures preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Background check and clearance per district and state requirements
