School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Dumfries, Virginia
Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by providing Speech-Language Pathology services within a dynamic educational environment in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of the city. This contract role runs from August 3, 2026, to May 27, 2027, offering a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours each week throughout a 185-day academic year.
Assignments across elementary, middle, and high school campuses are available. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team to serve students of diverse age groups, delivering comprehensive speech and language interventions that support educational goals.
Key Qualifications
- Current and active Speech-Language Pathologist licensure for Virginia
- Previous experience in school-based SLP roles is advantageous
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with educators and families
- Ability to manage a flexible caseload and work with all age groups
- Must be able to work on-site; remote or hybrid options are not available
- Must initiate VA Dept. of Social Services background check and provide proof of a current TB test prior to start
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide therapy aligning with IEP goals
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Engage and inform parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and strategies for support
- Adapt and tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each student population
