School Speech Language Pathologist - Detroit, Michigan
Embark on a fulfilling contract position supporting students with speech and language needs near Detroit, MI. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to make a difference across a range of ages and settings.
As the primary SLP for this assignment, you will provide services for early intervention, early childhood, and PreK/elementary-aged students for three schools (all within a two-mile radius), along with select in-home sessions. The schedule includes lighter summer hours (5-10 weekly) and transitions to a fuller workload (32.5 hours per week) during the academic year, spanning from June 1, 2026, through Thanksgiving 2026.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Active Michigan School Speech and Language Pathologist Certification
- Experience with early childhood and school-aged populations preferred
- Ability to travel between multiple nearby sites and conduct occasional in-home visits
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassionate, student-centered approach to therapy and collaboration
- Flexibility to adapt to various student needs and environments
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized speech and language plans
- Serve a diverse caseload spanning early intervention, early childhood, and PreK/elementary students
- Collaborate with school staff and families to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP team meetings
- Deliver both group and one-on-one therapy sessions in school and home-based settings
- Provide guidance and support to educators and parents on speech and language strategies
