School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Cortland, New York
A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) holding a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and a New York teaching certification. This position is based on-site in Cortland, NY, beginning as soon as possible.
This role involves managing a caseload primarily comprising two high school students with complex communication needs, with potential involvement serving additional middle school students at a nearby location. Both primary students require intensive support and specialized intervention:
- The first student is a 9th grader with cerebral palsy who is non-speaking and uses augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The student receives one-on-one support from a paraeducator.
- The second student is also a 9th grader diagnosed with non-verbal autism, with dedicated one-on-one paraeducator support.
Given the complexity of these cases, prior experience working within school environments with students who have cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, and AAC needs is essential. This experience ensures the ability to tailor interventions effectively and collaborate with educational teams and support staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid CCC credential as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Current New York State teaching certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Demonstrated experience with complex pediatric cases, including students with cerebral palsy, non-verbal autism, and AAC communication devices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, paraeducators, and families.
- Ability to provide specialized on-site therapy services in compliance with school protocols.
Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, implementing therapeutic interventions, and working closely with paraeducators to facilitate student progress.
This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students with unique communication needs in an educational setting. Professionals prepared to provide specialized clinical expertise and embrace collaborative service delivery are encouraged to apply promptly to support this urgent need.
Compensation for this position ranges from $36.72 to $66.72. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
