Take the opportunity to make a profound impact on young students’ communication skills as a School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist working on a leave coverage assignment through January. Situated near the vibrant city of Chicago, this contract opportunity focuses primarily on preschoolers, with occasional involvement up to 2nd grade. With a friendly and collaborative caseload model, you’ll deliver therapy, conduct evaluations, and play a vital role in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) team.
Key Qualifications and Credentials:
- Illinois SLP-CCC required
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience with pediatric populations in educational settings
- Proficient in developing and implementing IEP goals
- Commitment to supporting diverse student needs and fostering inclusive communication
- Strong interpersonal, organization, and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech-language therapy services to assigned students
- Complete screenings, assessments, and comprehensive evaluations
- Develop IEPs in collaboration with school staff and families
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and progress reports
- Utilize evidence-based practices to support speech and language development
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to optimize student outcomes
Role Details:
- Contracted leave replacement from October through January
- Serves mostly preschool students in a school setting; some caseload may extend to 2nd grade
- Standard work hours from 8:00–3:15, totaling 33.75 hours weekly
- Interviews conducted individually, preferably via Zoom
