A therapeutic day school specializing in supporting children with severe emotional disabilities in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a contract position during the current school year and extended school year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group speech and language therapy to students aged 3 to 21 years old.
  • Manage caseloads with no more than 10 students per classroom, focusing on 1:1 therapy sessions.
  • Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals, including thorough IEP writing and documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student progress.
  • Maintain scheduled hours of approximately 15 hours per week plus compensatory minutes, increasing to around 30 hours per week for the remainder of the school year.
  • Follow the school schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:15 AM to 2:15 PM; extended school year runs Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications:

  • Valid SLP license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL).
  • Master’s degree in a speech-related field.
  • Experience with IEP development and implementation.
  • Comfort working onsite with direct student interaction—interviews conducted onsite.
  • No Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) or Clinical Fellows in Year (CFY) will be considered.

This role is based at a single site in the Chicago area and offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on students with significant emotional challenges in a specialized educational environment.
